CE Filter

The CE Filter module models passive circuit components that are inserted between the Source and the conductors on which conducted emissions flow.  Generally the purpose of the filter is to attenuate conducted emissions produced by the Source to levels that are below the conducted emissions limit.

Filter circuits are synthesized using the Filter module schematic capture by placing components selected from the Component Library on a schematic diagram.  Components include resistors, capacitors, inductors, ferrites, coupled inductors, transformers, and standard impedance networks.  Element values for each component and the placement of components in the schematic diagram are determined by the user.

The Filter schematic diagram is a ladder network configuration that provides for differential mode and common mode components.  The filter schematic diagram has terminals on its left-hand side where the signals from the Source enter the filter, and terminals on its right-hand side where the filtered signals exit to the conductors.

Once the filter impedance has been calculated the status bar beneath the Filter button on the CE Analyst form is changed from red to green.
