CE Shield Transfer Impedance

The CE Shield Transfer Impedance module calculates, as the name implies, the transfer impedance of the shield using the physical properties of the shield.  The CE Shield Transfer Impedance module is enabled only when a shielded cable configuration is selected from the Conductor module.

Shield transfer impedance is an intrinsic property of the shield.  Unlike shielding effectiveness, which is a function of test setup and the circuits connected to the wires inside the shield, shield transfer impedance is an independent figure of merit.  Shield transfer impedance directly affects the shielding effectiveness of the shield.  In general, lower values of shield transfer impedance produce higher shielding effectiveness.

Several options are available for calculating shield transfer impedance, depending on the information available.  Once shield transfer impedance has been calculated the bar below the Shield Transfer button on the CE Analyst form is changed from red to green.
