Chassis
A termination grounded to
chassis or other conductive structure has the general configuration shown in the
following figure. The user may specify pigtail Length, Area, and
cross-sectional dimensions.
1. Length, shown in blue, is the termination length measured
from the shield connection, through the connector to the ground point.
2. Area, shown in yellow, is the cross sectional area of the
region bounded by the shield and/or unshielded wires in the cable and the
pigtail conductor. The boundary is defined by the inner edge of each
conductor the forms the area shown in yellow.

Cross-sectional dimensions are defined in terms of wire gauge for a circular
wire, width and thickness for a
flat conductor or number of strands for a woven wire braid conductor.
