Ideal Common Mode Inductor
The Ideal Common Mode Inductor is a magnetically coupled
four-terminal component. Magnetic coupling is 100% so the voltage across
the upper windings is equal to the voltage across the lower windings. The
number of turns is equal, upper and lower. Impedance across the inductor
windings is proportional to frequency. Impedance increases with increasing
frequency for all frequencies.
The Ideal Common Mode Inductor is available for series
schematic diagram components. Since the Ideal Common Mode Inductor is a
four-terminal component it occupies two series component positions
simultaneously. If another component already exists in either series
component position it will be replaced by the Ideal Common Mode Inductor.
To calculate and graph the impedance of the Ideal Common
Mode Inductor component over the frequency range selected on the Frequency Range form, click the Graph button on the
Component Library form toolbar or select menu Tools | Graph.
To change the Ideal Common Mode Inductor value, select the
present value, enter the desired value, and click the OK button.
When the OK button is clicked the Ideal Common Mode Inductor is placed on
the schematic diagram. If the Close button is clicked the Component
Library form closes with no changes to the schematic diagram.
