Import Source Data
When the Import Data
button is clicked on the Source form, the Import Source Data form opens,
allowing the path and name for the imported file to be entered.

Enter the path and file name in the text box or click the
Browse button to locate the file on your system. The first few
lines of the file are displayed in the Data Preview frame.
The imported file must be formatted as a two-column
delimited text file. The first row of the data file may be a header
row. Every subsequent row must contain a time value in the first column
and an amplitude value in the second column.
Time values must be positive real numbers, ascending in
value on successive rows. Time increments must be uniform. Amplitude
values must be real numbers.
The imported file may contain any number of rows, but for
very large imported files, i.e. greater than about 100,000 rows, the amount of
time and computer memory required to compute the frequency domain spectrum may
be prohibitive.
If the file uses a delimiter other than a comma, such as a
space or a semi-colon, enter the delimiter in the Delimiter box.
Tab-delimited files are not supported. If your file is tab-delimited,
replace the tabs with commas using a text editor, such as Notepad or WordPad,
before importing.
If the first row of the data file is a header row it must be
blanked by checking the check box labeled, "Check here if the first row is a
header (does not contain values)." Blanking the first row of the data file
does not affect the data file; it only tells EMI Analyst to ignore the
first row.
Once the file path and name has been specified, the
delimiter has been optionally entered, and the header row has been optionally
blanked, click the Import File button to import the file into the Source
form data table. The imported time-domain waveform will be displayed
numerically in the Piece-wise Linear waveform data table and graphically in the
upper graph of the Source form.
