Limit Form
The function of the Limit form changes, depending on the
application. For CE Analyst and RE Analyst the Limit form is
used to specify limits against which EMI Analyst computation results are
compared at the completion of calculations. For CS Analyst and
RS Analyst the Limit form is used to specify the amplitude of the signal
injected on the Conductors or the amplitude of the
electromagnetic field impinging on the Conductors,
respectively.
Limits are most commonly specified by government or
industry regulatory agencies, such as the Federal Communications Commission for
consumer electronics, the Federal Aviation Administration for commercial
aviation equipment, the Department of Defense for military equipment, CENELEC
for equipment in service in the European Union, etc.
The Limit form is comprised of a data table that defines
the limit using Frequency/Value pairs and a chart that displays the limit
graphically. As data is entered in the table the graph is updated
accordingly.
For CE Analyst and RE Analyst the limit is
not used by EMI Analyst when performing calculations. It is only
used as an overlay on graphs produced by those calculations. The Limit
module provides a convenient method for determining whether calculated emissions
exceed the limit.
An example of the Limit form is shown in the figure
below.
